Eligibility for New York patients
Many New York patients are eligible.
New York does not have a fixed list of qualifying conditions. If you have a medical condition, chronic symptoms, pain, anxiety, sleep issues, or another health concern, the physician can review your case and determine whether medical cannabis certification is clinically appropriate.

Certification terms
New York certifications may run for up to two years (per New York State Senate Bill S3294A, signed November 2025, effective approximately February 2026). BuddMD offers 1-year and 2-year certifications.
No card, no state fee
There is no state registration fee and no physical card to carry. Your certification contains a registry ID that you use directly at dispensaries.
Automatic registration
Once certified, you are automatically registered with the New York Medical Cannabis Program — there's no separate state application to file.

Where can New York patients buy medical cannabis?
New York patients should use licensed, regulated dispensaries. The New York Office of Cannabis Management maintains official resources to help patients and consumers verify licensed dispensary locations.
Before purchasing, patients can check the official NY OCM dispensary verification page and licensed-location map.
Licensed dispensaries are required to post New York's Dispensary Verification Tool near the main entrance. BuddMD does not operate or endorse any dispensary, and dispensary availability, products, pricing, and policies may vary.
