Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before you start.
How long is my certification valid?
In New York, certifications can run for up to two years. In Connecticut, the state allows 1-year, 18-month, or 2-year terms — BuddMD offers 1-year and 2-year certifications.
What happens after my visit?
In New York, your certificate is emailed to you and you're automatically registered with the NY Medical Cannabis Program — no separate state application or card needed.
In Connecticut, the physician enters your certification into the state's online system, and the state then emails you to complete your registration with the CT Department of Consumer Protection.

What if I don't qualify?
You'll receive a 100% refund if you don't qualify for certification.
Do you accept insurance?
No. BuddMD is cash-pay only — insurance does not cover medical cannabis certification services.
How do I pay?
You can pay upfront at intake to streamline scheduling, or wait until after the physician verifies your information — either way, payment is processed securely through Stripe. Promo codes can be applied at checkout.
How will BuddMD communicate with me?
Primarily by text/SMS and phone call, occasionally by email, with video visits available if needed.
Do I need to see the physician in person?
No. The entire process is telemedicine — phone or message-based, with video visits as needed.
What do I need to submit with my intake form?
Your full name, date of birth, state of residence, phone number, email address, condition or relevant medical information, and a government-issued photo ID. Connecticut patients may also need proof of residency.
Which states does BuddMD serve?
BuddMD currently serves patients in New York and Connecticut. The physician is licensed in both states.
