Terms of Service
The terms that govern your use of BuddMD's services.
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of the BuddMD website and services. By using this website, submitting an intake form, scheduling a telemedicine evaluation, or purchasing a service, you agree to these Terms.
1. About BuddMD
BuddMD provides physician-led telemedicine evaluations for eligible patients seeking medical cannabis certification in New York and Connecticut. Certification is provided only when clinically appropriate and in accordance with applicable state program requirements.
BuddMD is not an emergency medical service and does not provide urgent or emergency care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
2. Eligibility and State Requirements
BuddMD currently serves eligible patients in New York and Connecticut.
- New York patients are evaluated under New York's medical cannabis program requirements.
- Connecticut patients must meet Connecticut medical cannabis program requirements, including applicable residency and qualifying-condition requirements.
You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information, including your identity, contact information, state of residence, and medical history relevant to the evaluation.
3. No Guaranteed Certification
Submitting an intake form, scheduling an evaluation, or making payment does not guarantee certification.
Certification is provided only if the clinician determines that medical cannabis certification is clinically appropriate and permitted under applicable state rules.
If certification is not clinically appropriate and payment was collected for the certification service, BuddMD will refund the certification payment according to the refund policy below.
4. Telemedicine Services
BuddMD services may be provided through telemedicine, including online intake, electronic communication, telephone, audio/video tools, or other remote methods as clinically appropriate and permitted by law.
Telemedicine has benefits and limitations. The clinician may determine that additional information, identity verification, documentation, or a different form of evaluation is needed before a certification decision can be made.
5. Patient Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information.
- Use your own legal name and contact information.
- Notify BuddMD if any submitted information is incorrect or changes.
- Participate honestly in the evaluation.
- Not submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
- Use BuddMD services only for lawful purposes.
BuddMD may decline or discontinue service if information appears incomplete, inaccurate, fraudulent, abusive, or outside the scope of services offered.
6. Payment and Refunds
BuddMD is a cash-pay service. No insurance is required, and BuddMD does not bill insurance.
Current pricing is displayed on the website. Prices may change prospectively, but any price change will not affect services already paid for.
Certification payment is refundable if the clinician determines that certification is not clinically appropriate.
Optional add-on services, including letters or documentation, may have separate fees. Acceptance of any documentation is determined by the requesting party and is not guaranteed.
Refunds may not be available for missed appointments, incomplete patient participation, false or inaccurate information, duplicate submissions, or services already completed, except where required by law.
7. Letter of Medical Necessity
BuddMD may offer an optional Letter of Medical Necessity for an additional fee. A letter may summarize certification status, certification duration, and relevant medical basis reviewed during the evaluation.
Letters may be requested for employment, legal, court, probation/parole, housing, or other documentation purposes. Acceptance of any documentation is determined by the requesting party and is not guaranteed. BuddMD does not provide legal advice and cannot guarantee that any employer, court, probation/parole office, housing provider, law-enforcement agency, or other third party will accept the documentation.
8. Website Information
Information on this website is for general informational purposes only and does not replace medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or legal advice.
Use of this website alone does not create a clinician-patient relationship. A clinician-patient relationship is established only when BuddMD accepts your intake for evaluation and a clinician provides services to you.
9. Communications
By providing your phone number or email address, you authorize BuddMD to contact you about your intake, scheduling, payment, documentation, follow-up, or related service matters.
Text messages and email may not always be secure. Do not send sensitive documents unless specifically instructed. BuddMD may use secure or limited-access methods for identity verification or document collection when appropriate.
You may request that BuddMD stop non-essential communications, but some communications may be necessary to provide requested services.
10. Privacy
Your privacy is important. Please review the BuddMD Privacy Policy and Notice of Privacy Practices for information about how health information may be used and disclosed.
11. No Emergency or Primary Care Services
BuddMD does not provide emergency care, primary care, chronic disease management, prescription management unrelated to medical cannabis certification, or ongoing treatment for medical conditions.
You should continue regular care with your primary care clinician, specialists, or other treating providers.
12. Third-Party Services
BuddMD may use third-party tools for scheduling, payment processing, forms, website hosting, analytics, or communication. Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies.
BuddMD is not responsible for third-party platforms outside its control, except as required by applicable law or business associate agreements where applicable.
13. Intellectual Property
The BuddMD name, logo, website design, text, graphics, and related content are owned by BuddMD or its licensors and may not be copied, modified, or used without permission.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BuddMD is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from website use, scheduling delays, third-party decisions, third-party platform issues, or denial or non-acceptance of documentation.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable health care, privacy, consumer protection, or state medical laws.
15. Changes to These Terms
BuddMD may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
